Fox Gloves Dublin Ireland
In Irish Folk tradition every place, plant and animal has lots of different names and they have a special symbolic and sometimes interconnecting roles in the folk world.
These lads for example are fox gloves, regionally called Mearachan Phuca in Gaelic meaning Fairy Gloves. The saying goes “They can raise the dead and kill the living”. In one story explaining the english name they are called fox gloves because the fairies gave them to the foxes for their paws so they could hunt silently.
