Rowan berries. Aka not the highlander quickening berries :P
If youre into Celtic Mythology and youve read the Fairy place of the Quicken Trees these are the reason for the name. In Gaelic theyre called caorthann from Caer or Coar meaning berrie and flame. Theyre called ‘Quicken’ berries in folk tradition because they are supposed to have life giving powers. A quickening in Irish folk tradition is different to the highlander version. Its a sign of life and it refers to the first time a baby kicks in a mothers womb.
